MAC: RiRi Woo & Nightmoth

This is just a quick post to show you my current favourite lip combo that I tried out last week. It is MAC's RiRi Woo lipstick paired with MAC's Nightmoth lip liner on the outer edges blended in with a lip brush. I really like this combo as it added a depth to my RiRi Woo making it stand out with a slight ombre effect. RiRi Woo is a matte red lipstick with a cool undertone to it, check out my review of it here

You may have heard this before but if you do not already own the Nightmoth lip liner you need to get your hands on it. It's such a fitting colour for the winter season with the dark burgundy tone to it and it is great paired with really well a lot of my plum, deep red and burgundy shade lipsticks.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - £7.99
Shameless - a dark purple
Showy - a bright blue toned pink
Unapologetic - pink shade with a slight coral tone

A few weeks ago I saw Revlon's new Colorburst Matte Balm's all over the internet so I decided to buy a few and see what they were like. I bought the lip crayon's in the shades Shameless, Showy and Unapologetic online from Boots with the 3 for 2 promotion they currently have at £7.99 each. Revlon describes the Colorburst Matte Balm as a 'Velvety Matte Look. Moisture Rich Balm A Matte finish that’s beyond plush. Balm that’s beyond comforting'. The ingredients in the Colorburst's include a mixture of three butters to keep them nourishing: Shea butter, Coconut butter and Mango butter.

As soon as I got my hands on them I wore the Shmeless shade straight away without thinking as I currently have a slight addiction to purple lip products. On first application it glides on my lips very smoothly however, I wasn't too fussed about the tingling sensation it left on my lips, it felt very menthol-ly (I know that's not a word) which I don't like. The Colorburst's are not highly pigmented as some matte lip products can be and they take about 2/3 applications to achieve the look in the above pictures. For a more pigmented finish I ended up wearing similar toned purple lip liner (I can't remember it right now) all over my lips and then applying Shameless on top of it.

I have to say for a High Street product the Colorburst Matte Balm's are not that bad especially considering the price. My only problem with them is that I think they could be a little bit more matte than they are but I guess it moisture to it is down to all butters that are in the ingredients of them to keep the lips nourished. I would also say that the lighter shades do come acrooss a little chalky when applied, especially the Showy shade. It's nothing too major to worry about, something a good lip liner as a base can probably help sort out. However, I don't think I would recommend the Showy shade if you have a darker skintone than mine though.

Paris: Make Up Buys

This weekend I went to Paris for a short trip and as usual Sephora was on my list of things to do. I  went to the massive Sephora on Champs Elysees which I always love to visit when I am in Paris, I knew exactly what I wanted as I previously went to Sephora when I was in Florence back in October. When I was in Florence I previously picked up a Cream Lip Stain in Always Red which I absolutely LOVE and two Colour Lip Last's in Wanted Red and and Royal Raspberry but this time I picked up back ups as well as new colours to try.

l-r:
Sephora Cream Lip Stain - 01 (Always Red) "Matte bold classic red'
Sephora Cream Lip Stain - 06 (Forever Fuchsia) "Satin electric fuchsia"
Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain - 12 (Cherry Nectar)
Sephora Colour Lip Last - 20 (Wanted Red) "Matte dark red"
Sephora Colour Lip Last - 19 (Pure Red) "Matte red"
Sephora Colour Lip Last - 11 (Forever Fuchsia) "Hot pink"

Sephora Colour Lip Last -
20 (Wanted Red), 19 (Pure Red), 11 (Forever Fuchsia)
(not that you can tell the difference in this picture, my bad!)

Sephora Cream Lip Stain - 01 | Sephora Cream Lip Stain - 06 | Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain - 12 |  Sephora Colour Lip Last - 20 | Sephora Colour Lip Last - 19 | Sephora Colour Lip Last - 11

I absolutely love the Cream Lip Stains as they go on so creamy and smooth and dry to a complete matte finish which does not budge regardless. If you get a chance to visit a Sephora in Europe or America you have to pick up at least one of the Cream Lip Stains.

The Rouge Infusion Lip Stain is a new product from Sephora and whilst I was trying to translate what it meant in French in a busy store I decided to buy the first colour I swatched on a whim. I am not a fan of coloured lip glosses but after a weird conversation where I spoke English and used a translator app with a French speaking sales assistant I got the impression it was a long lasting lip gloss that doesn't budge with a slight matte effect (don't ask me how I managed to get that from our convo). I haven't used it yet but after swatching it in the store I realised it's doesn't budge at all! It still has it's gloss but I really like the fact that it doesn't budge whilst retaining it's glossy look.

The Colour Lip Last's apply very smoothly and then dry to mate finish apart from no.11 which has a shimmer to it. From experience with my previous Lip Last's they are very comfortable to wear and have a long lasting stay.

Bioderma Crealine H2O
I always have to stock up on my favourite cleanser whenever I visit Paris, I also bought a small travel size one (not pictured). I usually get my "French" friend and sometimes her lovely family members to bring back a back from France for me.

Laduree
Macaroons
The Cheri (tea) - "Delicate blend of black tea, cocoa, caramel and vanilla"

What is a trip to Paris without visiting Laduree and bringing back some Macaroons? I went to the store on Champs Elysees which was busy and ram packed as it always is but we waited and got a table and sat in for the first time. I ordered the Mille-Feuille pastry with raspberry jam which was delicious and the Cheri tea which was so amazing I had to buy it to take home.

By the way if you haven't already noticed my blog has changed it's look to a more simplistic design and I have also changed my blog name and made it a dot.com too at: www.makeupbyhenessy.com. I hope you like it all, my blog has been long overdue for a change x
