Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - £7.99
Shameless - a dark purple
Showy - a bright blue toned pink
Unapologetic - pink shade with a slight coral tone
A few weeks ago I saw Revlon's new Colorburst Matte Balm's all over the internet so I decided to buy a few and see what they were like. I bought the lip crayon's in the shades Shameless, Showy and Unapologetic online from Boots with the 3 for 2 promotion they currently have at £7.99 each. Revlon describes the Colorburst Matte Balm as a 'Velvety Matte Look. Moisture Rich Balm A Matte finish that’s beyond plush. Balm that’s beyond comforting'. The ingredients in the Colorburst's include a mixture of three butters to keep them nourishing: Shea butter, Coconut butter and Mango butter.
As soon as I got my hands on them I wore the Shmeless shade straight away without thinking as I currently have a slight addiction to purple lip products. On first application it glides on my lips very smoothly however, I wasn't too fussed about the tingling sensation it left on my lips, it felt very menthol-ly (I know that's not a word) which I don't like. The Colorburst's are not highly pigmented as some matte lip products can be and they take about 2/3 applications to achieve the look in the above pictures. For a more pigmented finish I ended up wearing similar toned purple lip liner (I can't remember it right now) all over my lips and then applying Shameless on top of it.
I have to say for a High Street product the Colorburst Matte Balm's are not that bad especially considering the price. My only problem with them is that I think they could be a little bit more matte than they are but I guess it moisture to it is down to all butters that are in the ingredients of them to keep the lips nourished. I would also say that the lighter shades do come acrooss a little chalky when applied, especially the Showy shade. It's nothing too major to worry about, something a good lip liner as a base can probably help sort out. However, I don't think I would recommend the Showy shade if you have a darker skintone than mine though.
